Product Concept Statement

The Neighborhood Shed is a website in which area homeowners and renters can sign-up to borrow and lend those household items often needed for a particular home project. This mobile-friendly site will allow participants to share those items they may have available to loan, as well as list those items available for use within a defined radius. It will be searchable, archive just enough pertinent information for people to be held accountable and will leave the nuances of the trade agreement to the individuals.

Individuals will be able to then rate and review one another’s participation ensuring future lenders and borrowers understanding with whom they are willing to reach a transactional agreement.

The Neighborhood Shed is aimed at helping users find items they need for a limited use thus saving time and money. Loaners can benefit by tracking who has borrowed their items. Alerts and reminders remove the awkwardness of having to ask for items to be returned while ratings motivate users & lenders to abide by the agreements solidifying their positive status for future transactions from other neighbors.
